Investment Philosophy
To assist his clients in achieving their goals, Jeff employs the following core beliefs:
- Make decisions in the context of your entire financial picture. Always consider other business interests, real estate, investments, and insurance and estate issues. Investment decisions should not be made in isolation.
- Utilize strategies to help limit your risk. Target consistent, less volatile returns over time as compared to large gains that typically precede large losses. The legendary investor Warren Buffett said it best: "Rule number one is never lose money. Rule number two is never forgetting rule number one."
- Take a long-term view with your investment strategy and have patience. Control the factors you can control, which include your decision-making process and spending habits. Refrain from making decisions solely due to changing short-term market conditions. Remember, an investment can be like a bar of soap -- the more you touch it the smaller it can get.
- Focus on your real return -- that is, what you keep after taxes and inflation. It is imperative to protect the buying power of your money over time.
- Be opportunistic. Do not allow market "noise" to affect your emotions, which usually tell us to do the wrong thing at the wrong time. Experience and wisdom have taught us to be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy.
