Accountability and Client Services
How many investors actually know how they are doing? Every investor receives a monthly or quarterly account statement, and in some cases quarterly performance monitors. But once every year Jeff:
- Reports to his clients’ their net-of-fee performance for the prior calendar year;
- Provides a comparison analysis against the broad market benchmarks; and
- Provides a comparison of current account balances against his client's lifetime net contributions since the accounts were established. (Lifetime net contributions include all contributions to the account less withdrawals and fees).
Part of Jeff's role is to keep score for his clients in a simple and understandable format. Without keeping score, it is difficult to know if value is being added or destroyed.
Experience
The importance of good client service cannot be understated, and Jeff's goal is to provide his clients with an experience, rather than just a service. To accomplish this, Jeff:
- Respects his clients' time and helps to make sure they never wait when arriving for a scheduled appointment.
- Promptly returns all calls and e-mails.
- Pays attention to the details.
